The primary goals for the project were: - take full advantage of the site by raising the ceiling height across the front of the home to create more volume and natural light - create a strong connection between the interior and exterior to allow the living space to spill out onto a large deck area - improve the energy efficiency and comfort of the home - an overall update to the appearance of the home inside and out and, - add family room/gathering space for visiting kids and future grandkids. Stig Carlson Architecture started the process of achieving these goals by removing the existing low sloped roof across the front of the house and replacing it with higher flat roof that allowed an extra two feet of ceiling height in the space
